Robert S. and Beth M. Carter Endowed Chair


The University of Utah, College of Nursing, presents an exciting opportunity for a doctorally prepared individual to fill the newest endowed chair position. The Robert S. and Beth M. Carter Endowed Chair was created to honor the parents of Tom and Robyn Carter. This new endowed chair in nursing is open to doctorally prepared faculty interested in applying that have a sustained program of research and area of expertise congruent with the strategic direction of the College. The College of Nursing has five additional endowed chairs designated as follows: Dr. D. Keith and Dotty Barnes Presidential Endowed Chair held by Dr. Janice M. Morse, a qualitative researcher; Helen Lowe Bamberger Colby Presidential Endowed Chair in Gerontological Nursing held by Dr. Ginette Pepper; Annette Poulson Cumming Presidential Endowed Chair in Women's and Reproductive Health held by Dr. Patricia Murphy; Louis S. Peery Presidential Endowed Chair held by Dr. Kathi Mooney, a specialist in oncology nursing; and the Louis S. Peery Presidential Endowed Chair held by Dr. Maureen Keefe, Dean of the College.

The College enrolls 600 students in strong, established nursing education programs and newer, innovative programs. The College offers generic and accelerated baccalaureate programs, and RN-to-BNS completion program, a masters program, and two doctoral programs, PhD and DNP programs. In addition an interdisciplinary gerontology program resides in the College of Nursing. On-campus students receive their education in student-centered, technology-rich, interdisciplinary Health Sciences Education Building opened only two years ago. Numerous interdisciplinary initiatives add to the richness of student experiences. The College of Nursing offers graduate courses through the U Graduate Center at Dixie State College located in the southwest corner of the state.

The College of Nursing is a research intensive institution and has been successful in obtaining numerous grants from government agencies such as the National Institutes of Health, Department of Labor, Department of Health and Human Services, and leading foundations. The Emma Eccles Jones Research Center provides support for nurse scientists. The College of Nursing is one of nine institutions receiving Hartford grants for Geriatric Centers in the US and one of the four VA Nursing Academies in the country.
