Accelerated Baccalaureate Program in Nursing

Admissions Application Program of Study Programs Home Prerequisites

The College of Nursing at the University of Utah is pleased to announce our new Accelerated Baccalaureate Program in Nursing. The accelerated nursing curriculum is designed for college graduates who 1) hold a baccalaureate degree in another field from an accredited institution and 2) have completed all nursing prerequisites. Students admitted to the program are required to complete 63 credits in the nursing major.

CURRICULUM

This is a full-time, 16 month program which will begin every Summer Semester (mid-May) and end the following Summer Semester (mid-August). Classes and clinical experiences will be taken in the following areas of nursing practice: adult medical-surgical, pediatrics, maternity, psychiatric-mental health and community health. The final semester offers an intensive clinical experience (capstone) which allows students the opportunity to further develop their professional leadership and clinical skills.

NURSING PREREQUISITES

  • Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher AND a prenursing prerequisite GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Completion of ALL nursing prerequisites (grade of C or higher) PRIOR to entering the program.
