College of Nursing Convocation and CelebrationConvocation for the College of Nursing will be held at Kingsbury Hall on Thursday, May 1, 2008 at 5:00 p.m. All students graduating from the College of Nursing will have degrees conferred during the Convocation ceremony. Graduates and their guests are invited to a congratulatory event with light refreshments immediately following convocation ceremonies. The congratulatory celebration will be held in the Chamber Music Hall, next door at Gardner Hall (the building west of Kingsbury Hall) Line-up/Seating of GraduatesUndergraduate Candidates should arrive in cap and gown for class pictures at 3:45 p.m. in front of the Park Building (located at the top of Presidents Circle). Immediately following class pictures, candidates will line up behind the Master’s students at ground level (East and West) doors of Kingsbury Hall. All candidates should plan to arrive in cap and gown by 4:15 p.m. at Kingsbury Hall. Masters Candidates should arrive in cap and gown by 4:15 p.m. at Kingsbury Hall. Candidates will line up in front of the undergraduates at the ground level (East and West) lobby doors of Kingsbury Hall. Doctoral Candidates should arrive in cap and gown by 4:15 p.m. at Kingsbury Hall. Candidates will line up at the east stage doors of Kingsbury Hall. Staff members from the College of Nursing will be on hand to assist and provide program information. College of Nursing PinsCollege of Nursing Pins are available for purchase in the Office of Academic Programs and Student Services. The cost for the pin is $45.00. You may purchase your pin Monday through Friday between 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and from 2:00 - 4:30 p.m. Cash, check or money orders will be accepted (unable to accept credit/debit cards). Checks and Money Orders will be payable to the College of Nursing. The pins are optional but make a nice graduation gift. Guest SeatingTickets are not required to attend Convocation and any interested attendees are welcome. Guests must be seated by 4:50 p.m. as the processional will begin promptly at 5:00 p.m. Special Seating/AccommodationsStudents or guests with disabilities may give reasonable prior notice and request accommodations through the Center for Disability Services at 801-581-5020 (voice/TDD). ParkingCampus parking lots may be used at no charge during Convocation and Commencement ceremonies. Families are encouraged to drop off elderly guests and those who cannot walk long distances to Kingsbury Hall before parking their cars. Graduates and their guests are encouraged to park at Rice Eccles Stadium and ride the free campus shuttle service which runs every ten minutes. PhotographsA professional photographer has been authorized to photograph all graduates. Please note that candidates are under no obligation to purchase these photographs. Candidates who want to purchase pictures are requested to bring a pen or pencil to complete an information card for the photographer. Please note that guests may take photographs as well, but will not be allowed near the stage during the Convocation ceremony. Cap and Gown OrdersStudent graduates can pay for and pick up graduation regalia at the University Bookstore's GRAD FAIR April 2-4, 2008 from 8:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Please see the University of Utah Bookstore for additional information. University-Wide CommencementThe University of Utah General Commencement will be held on Friday, May 2, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. in the Jon M. Huntsman Center. This University-wide ceremony will confer all College degrees en masse (except the Schools of Law and Medicine). All graduates should arrive in cap and gown by 8:00 a.m. in the parking lot south of Milton Bennion Hall. Groups will assemble in four separate lines by college and within colleges by degrees. Staff will be on hand to assist graduates. The processional will begin at 8:20 a.m. Guests should plan to be seated before 8:30 a.m. DiplomasDiplomas are mailed to student graduates within three months of graduation.
